A statewide identity
808 has served Hawaii since 1957. It is a statewide code, rather than a separate area code for each island. Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, Kauai, and the other islands are not distinguished by the three-digit code.
That makes an island name and actual business location valuable contact information. A number alone is not a substitute for a service-area description.

Local dialing includes 808
Ten-digit dialing became mandatory on October 24, 2021, including calls within the same island. Publish the area code with every local number and check saved contacts and dialing equipment.
A catalog rate-center label describes numbering geography. It does not establish a caller’s current location or automatically guarantee that your preferred provider will accept the number.
Choose for the business, then verify the service
For a booking business, a relevant word or clear ending can be worth comparing. For a local service, an affordable complete number that is easy to dictate may be more practical.
Ask the receiving provider to check the exact ten digits, intended service, and any required texting before buying. Do not rely on a general assumption that every provider supports every Hawaii number.
